Lincoln's first diaper bank is here!
The Center for People in Need is proud to be home to Lincoln's first diaper bank—an agency dedicated to directly serving families and other nonprofit organizations. With the establishment of this diaper bank, we hope to make an impact on the thousands of Lancaster County residents suffering from diaper need, which is the insufficient supply of diapers to keep a baby clean, dry and healthy.
In 2021, the Center's Diaper Bank distributed 294,625 diapers to children in need.
"We estimate more than 6,000 children in Lancaster County suffer diaper need," said Chris Funk, the Center's former executive director. "We are very happy to be working toward ending this unnecessary hardship for children and families in our community."
The Center's Diaper Bank collects, stores and distributes free disposable diapers to member agencies throughout Lincoln, who then distribute those diapers to their low-income clients. The diaper bank also directly distributes diapers to families at the Center's facility.
