More than 5,400 families received food from the Center for People in Need last year. The Center distributed 3.12 million pounds of food in 2021. But that isn't the whole story. Providing food to struggling families is just one facet of how the Center works to make the Lincoln community stronger.
Last year, the Center also provided diapers to 1,366 families; helped 98 people improve their English language skills; trained 294 individuals on the job and life skills necessary for reentry success; provided scholarships and wrap-around services to 65 new students at Southeast Community College; provided Thanksgiving-themed food to 1,453 families; and ensured 2,701 children had gifts during the holiday season.
