Donors give record amount to the Center
The Center received a record amount in donations from an all-time high number of donors during Give to Lincoln 2020.
Thanks to the generosity of the Lincoln community, we finished the event second in the gift ranking with a total of $182,197.53. That’s a new record in Give to Lincoln fundraising for the Center.
“Give to Lincoln has always been a great event for our community,” said executive director Chris Funk. “But this year it feels even more special. Lincoln came together in a crisis and showered us with much-needed support.”
The amount of money raised in 2020 was almost double that of 2019.
“The outpouring of support has really kept us motivated, through the snow, wind, rain and heat,” said deputy director Steve Sheridan. “We see struggling families come through our distribution drive-thru every day. They are so grateful for the assistance during their time of need, and we are so grateful for the support that allows us to give that assistance.”
The funds raised through Give to Lincoln will, among other things, help provide food and diapers to more the more than 1,300 families that visit the Center’s drive-thru each week.
Since March 17, more than 900 new families have signed up for Center services.
