How to Start Volunteering:
Except for the special events discussed below, there is no need to sign up prior to volunteering with the Center for People in Need. Volunteers of all ages are welcome. (Minors generally need to be accompanied by an adult.) When you are ready to begin, come to our offices and check in at the front desk.
Note: Please wear comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes. If possible, bring a government-issued photo ID (such a driver’s license) with you each time you volunteer.
Food Distribution Program
We always need help setting up, assisting clients with shopping, etc. Volunteers are needed on Tuesdays, anytime between 8:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. or Fridays anytime between 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Tasks may include sorting food, setting up tables, assisting clients with shopping, gathering carts, tearing down tables, etc.
Household Goods Sorting
This is an ongoing task. Volunteers are needed Monday through Friday anytime between 8:30 a.m. and 4:45 p.m. Tasks may include inspecting household goods/clothing received for viability, sorting for distribution, etc.
Online signup for special event volunteering will be posted a few weeks before each event. Please watch this site or our social media accounts if you are interested in participating.
